Lauren studies how chronic Integrated Stress Response (ISR) leads to tissue damage as we age. She uses mouse models and advanced genetic tools to explore how the ISR impacts tissues at the cellular and molecular levels. Lauren’s work helps us understand the basic biology of aging and find diseases where our eIF2B activating drugs might make a difference by reducing ISR activity.
Why Lauren works at Calico
"The expertise, innovation, collaboration, resources, and intellectual freedom at Calico enable me to conduct research that likely wouldn’t be possible at most other places. This community has supported my pursuit of ambitious projects to better understand how chronic ISR disrupts cells and tissues during aging and age-related diseases. I love that I am empowered and encouraged to tackle interesting and challenging biological questions in creative ways that might one day improve patients' lives."
